This truck lived in southern Arizona until 2006 so its 99 Rust Free. It has a 5th Wheel in the bed and a quick disconnect tailgate for gooseneck trailers. It comes fully equipped with a towing package that includes a Tekonsha trailer braking system with light hook-up built into the trailer hitch. It’s got a single disk CD player and detachable aftermarket head unit with a great Infiniti Sound System, you’ll be surprised how nice the sound quality is in this thing. There’s a custom 3 exhaust pipe that dumps out to a monster 5 tip. The exhaust gives the truck a nice low rumble at idle and a deep roar when accelerating; they consistently tell me to turn the truck off when I go to the drive thru’s. It’s not THAT loud, it’s just something about the way the exhaust reverberates off of things that amplifies the sound. Nothing a little yelling at the speaker box can’t take care of. It’s got a pretty dark tint which keeps the truck very cool during the summer; I’ve never had to air out the truck before getting in. It also keeps wandering eyes from seeing what you have in the cab. The interior is very spacious and comfortable; whoever designed this truck definitely had creature comforts in mind. It has 4 cup holders, built in floor mats, lighter and a 12v accessory outlet, the seats have built in lumbar support, and there is enough room to sleep 2 people. Another thing that I love about this model is that the center console is large enough for 2 People to comfortably eat meals off of. I have a Jack Russell and I discovered it’s a great spot for him to stand/sleep on if I’m driving and someone is riding in the passenger seat. The console also flips up to create a sixth seat. The rear bench seat flips up as well to allow for greater storage room if you’re moving a lot of stuff. The truck also has a sliding rear window which allows for greater air flow into the cab for those of you who would rather rock the windows down than air-conditioning. Another cool about the truck is when you’re hauling heavy loads or traveling down steep grades it has a push button for the overdrive built right into the dash; this makes the truck a lot safer since you don’t have to manually downshift and slip out of gear. 1997 was the last year Dodge made the 12 Valve Diesels meaning the engine is entirely mechanical, from what I’ve been told these mechanical Cummins’ last longer and are less prone to expensive repairs, namely because there aren’t any electronics you have to deal with. If you’re new to Chrysler products these vehicles have a feature that will automatically unlock the doors if you try to lock them while the key is in the ignition. This feature has saved me more times than I’d like to admit. The extended bed of the truck also has the mounting holes and brackets which allow you to attach a camper to the bed.
