| DESCRIPTION |
| How many rods do you know of that are works in progress? You know, that car that the owner never quite finishes, the one with the wires hanging down under the dash, or the Mexican blanket on the seats? If you look around, you'll probably find more than a few with power windows that don't work and A/C that just needs a recharge. Instead of dealing with unfinished projects and their associated headaches, allow us to introduce you to this beautifully finished, fully functional, 100 sorted 1937 Chevy flatback, which is one of only 223 made in '37. There's not much you can do to improve the looks of these cars, and the builder wisely retained everything that makes them so attractive. Dig the accent line that stretches from behind the front fenders, the cool art-deco taillights, and the grilles in the sides of the hood. Tastefully finished in 2-stage urethane and retaining all the little details that make cars of the 1930s so special, this one is ready to drive and enjoy today with no sorting, no tinkering, and no excuses. Power comes from a durable, powerful, and reliable small block Chevy 350 cubic inch motor that has been dressed to the nines in tons of billet aluminum, chrome, and polished stainless steel. To keep things reliable and easy to service, there's an Edelbrock four-barrel carb atop a polished intake, block-hugger headers handle the exhaust, and a factory HEI distributor lights the fires. Billet accessories like the air cleaner, valve covers, and spark plug wire holders all match and have been polished until they glitter like chrome. The firewall has been smoothed so nothing distracts you from the show going on under the hood, and functional upgrades include a big radiator, chrome alternator, power steering, and Vintage Air A/C. Like the body, the engine bay is as beautiful as it is functional. Underneath, the original 1937 frame has been retained, albeit upgraded with some modern hardware to make this car as easy to drive as a new Impala. A stout TH350 3-speed automatic handles the gear changes, and is another link in the reliability chain. A Mustang II type independent suspension with rack-and-pinion steering is used up front, while out back, a Camaro 10-bolt housing 3.08 gears facilitates easy highway cruising. Also note the original floors, whose condition suggests that this car has never had any rust issues. The dual exhaust system sounds healthy and powerful, but isn't too overbearing, which makes this car extremely friendly to drive long distances and around town. Wheels are traditional 15-inch polished Halibrands wearing 205/60/15 front and 235/70/15 rear BFGoodrich T/A radials. No blankets or seat covers inside, either. Instead, it's a beautifully stitched custom leather passenger compartment that looks good enough to be OEM in a new car. In fact, the power bucket seats are from a late-model vehicle, and have been trimmed in tan leather to match the back seat. The door panels have been custom made with embossed details and those cool door billet aluminum handles that incorporate courtesy lights. The original dash has been resculpted to house modern digital gauges in a billet fascia, while a matching glove box door was machined to house a clock. In the middle, you'll find controls for the heat and A/C. Of course, on a car that's built to drive like this, all the creature comforts are included, such as power windows, a tilt column, and a powerful entertainment system. Forget about crude homemade rods, this one looks and feels much more expensive than it is. So if you're tired of looking at other people's unfinished projects and are the sort of hobbyist who would rather be driving than tinkering, take another look at this '37 Chevy. It's a beautiful car with a lot of features for not a lot of money, and there's just no way you could build your own for the asking price. This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
