Packard was know for its attention to form and fit and its new Ultramatic Transmission was the new thing, adding a feeling of smooth power when behind the wheel. Purchased by my father-in-law in 1972 and driven regularly for over twenty years, it was very well maintained until his health and eyesight began to decline. Sitting in a garage for the last 10 years has diminished the look and some function. The engine runs strong and smooth and the transmission shifts well. There is a leak in the hydraulic system that powers the top, windows and brakes, so they do not function properly. The top is in good condition but has some water stains, the interior is in good to very good condition and totally complete. The exterior paint fair, and there is only minimal surface rust in a few places, no serious body issues. The once gleaming chrome bumpers need re chroming. While this car does need attention, it is absolutely complete, and a truly unique piece of automotive collectable history. | |
