| 1967 Mustang Coupe - Acapulco Metalic Blue exterior and navy blue on blue interior. Mileage - 96,000 orginal miles. Never wrecked - no rust. Non-smoker vehicle, Garage kepted, 2 barrel 289 V8 - Automatic C code, Original motor and transmission - never rebuilt and runs like new. Built in New Jersey June 13, 1967. It was released to the Atlanta, GA district and sold in Blue Ridge, GA new. You will not find a car like this that is soooo original and excellant shape! It even has the original Mustang Horse Hubcaps. 1. The vehicle had its first and only repaint when it was restored in 1988. One of the top show car judges and insurance appraisers for classic cars painted this car. He painted it the orginal color - accapulco metalic blue - Ford color. He stripped the car down free of all chrome in order to paint the car. Today, he is one of the most sought after classic car painters and gets about $6000 for one paint job. This car has been kept in the garage and never rained on since the paint job. He also painted the engine, but he would not rebuild the engine because it sounded perfect. 2. What repair has been done? Johnny Bearden, the car painter, also restored the car completely. I told Johnny that the engine sounded real good. His response was that he always rebuilt the engines in the cars he restores. After he received the car for restoration, he called me a week later. He said that he listened to the engine and tested it. Then, he said he would not rebuild the engine because it sounded perfect and tested out perfectly. The only thing he did to the engine was replace wiring, plugs, and hoses. He also cleaned and repainted the engine and put on new decals. He also re-chromed the bumpers and replaced certain chrome decals like the horse decal on the side and the gas cap. On the inside he replaced the seat covers and the carpet. He also replaced the overhead liner. The liner in the trunk was replaced also. The tires were replaced, but not the spare tire - its original and so is the AM radio. 3. Where and how has the car been maintained ? The car is stored in my dads garage in North Georgia. He cranks it up and drives it to town at least once a month on a sunny day just to maintain it. The oil is changed and checked regularly. In 2004, we noticed the transmission gasket needed to be replaced - it was causing a leak. I spent $2000 to have that gasket replaced. The car does not leak anything now. As far as records, I have records on where the car was manufactured, the district it was assigned to, the orginal owner, and maybe some restoration records. Of coarse, I have the clear title and the insurance records. 4. Two owners. I know the lady who bought the car brand new in 1968. In 1972, my dad bought it from her to give to my sister. My sister drove it during her teenage years until 1978. My dad had a savings account for me that he put money in over the years. When my sister wanted to sell the car, he asked me if I wanted to buy the car with the money he had put in the savings account. I said, Yes! Since I was 10 years old at the time, I could not put the car title in my name. I put the title in my name in 1988 when it was restored. 5. In North Georgia, emmission testing is not required; therefore, it has never had an emmissions test. I do not have a safety certificate; Ive never heard of a safety certificate. However, all requirements have been met in order to get proper insurance and tags. 6. The reason I am selling the car is because it is stored at my dads house in his garage. I will not let it sit in the rain or outside in the sun. I do not have a place to store it. My dad lives 3 hours from me. He also maintains the car for me, but he is now 75 years old. Ive lost interest in maintaining it; I do not have a place of my own to store it; and I do not want it to be a burden to my dad. 7. Any leins? No. The car is paid for in full and so are all restorations. It has a clear title. 8. Bottom Line Price: Please understand that this car is in very rare condition - before and after restoration. You will find these type cars with all kind of extras, but how many wrecks, bondo, and replacement parts do they have? This car has not had these kind of problems. It was not taken from a junk yard and restored, and it is not stored in a junk yard. The unusual part about this car is that it has a 289 V8 2 barrell orginal engine - runs perfect and never rebuilt. Most of these engines were 4 barrell; therefore it is a rare engine. All numbers and the colors and history matches this car. It is a superb car. Finally, Im selling a family treasure. This car has been apart of our family for 34 years. Im 38, and I grew up with this car that has many memories attached to it. Also, the car will be 40 years old next year on June 13, 2007. | |
