| Stock #689 - 1978 Corvette with four speed transmission and only 52,876 actual miles. This is one nice car. Despite the paint, it is not an Indy Pace car. According to the current owner the car was painted to look like a pace car by the GM dealer back in 1978 due to a shortage of Indy Pace cars (only around 6,500 were produced). This car's tag shows 19C code black exterior and code 122 oyster interior. All the options work including the factory air conditioning and power windows. Less than 3,000 ago the numbers-matching block was fully rebuilt with new 10:1 pistons, rods and bearings. The factory cylinder heads were upgraded to aluminum AFR 180 units and matching AFR aluminum intake. Cam was upgraded to a Crane 280H with new lifters and valvetrain. The original exhaust manifolds were replaced with headers and true duel exhaust. Shifter was upgraded to a Hurst unit and the rear end was completely rebuilt with new posi, axles, bearings, seals and GM performance 3.55 gears to handle the extra horsepower. This car now boasts over 370 very streetable horsepower and is much quicker than any original 78 Corvette.
