About Our Club
The onset of summer has brought out the poet in us all. Our fun little cars are really the most fun vehicles and we are not the only ones to know it. You know the fun of driving your car into a show or cruise and knowing that probably 3/4 of the crowd does not know for sure what you are driving and the other 1/4 either owned one or their aunt or niece did.The Met is a very easy car to love. It is so ugly it is cute and when you actually sit back and think about it they are just about the most homely car ever put on the road. I mean there are a couple of vehicles (the Gremlin for instance) that would give it a run for it?s money but, the Met was not intended to be a beauty. It was meant to be the second car for the ?little woman? to drive to the store and around town. It was economical when it was not yet fashionable to be economical and this may have been it?s weak spot. It didn?t really fit into the times. The team at American Motors thought they were on the cutting edge and indeed they were - the only problem was they were about 20 years ahead of their time. If the Met came out in say, 1970 or so it may have been a huge hit. Of course it didn?t and we now have an orphan that we have come to love dearly.Hope all our club members are having a wonderful summer and the weather is to their liking. This has been a very weird summer in that the heat is not as intense as normal and the whole country is not really in it?s normal weather pattern. The need for inputs and more suggestions is very important. We are still being inundated with spam but, the Yahoo filters are working pretty well. Keep those suggestions coming. The onset of summer has brought out the poet in us all.
