| The Southeastern Chapter of the International Edsel Club started out as the Kentucky Chapter.During the summer of 1975 a young member from Danville, KY named Bill Stocker wanted to form a local chapter. He got a list from the IEC President of the members in Kentucky, and sent out letters trying to get a chapter started. He only had two replies -- Charlie Kiser, Jr. from Grayson, and Jack Whipple from Russellville.The national meet for the IEC was at Indianapolis that year, and Jack Whipple asked IEC President David Babb what to do. He told him to find a spot that would be centrally located in the state, set a date, and see what happens. Somerset,KY was chosen as the place with the date of October 31st and November 1st, and there was a good turnout. Charlie Kiser had sent out several letters to members in adjoining states to help boost the turnout. The next spring was held at Frankfort,KY on April 23rd and 24th 1976, at that meet Harold Browning from Abingdon,VA in the fall. It was at the Abingdon,VA Meet on October 22nd and 23rd 1976 that the Southeastern Chapter was formed when Donna Martin made a motion that the club be named The Southeastern Chapter. From that day forward our meets have been held in different areas of our chapter. |
