| The Seaboard Chapter, based in southern New Jersey, began in 1974. Its first achievement was a milestone. Through a petition drive and sheer persistence, the founding members succeeded in lobbying New Jersey to institute special license tags for antique motorcycles? a benefit we appreciate and benefit from greatly to this day.The Seaboard Chapter has a fall picnic each year, with many members arriving on their antique motorcycles. We generally have a few other informal group rides, including treks to the nearby AMCA shows. Sometimes we'll saddle up on our old steeds and head to an event at a point of historical interest, or to a favorite spot for feasting on crabs. Some people might be surprised to know how many scenic back roads you can find in this part of New Jersey, if you know where to look.We may be one of the smaller chapters? especially in comparison to our huge neighbor the Colonial Chapter? but our turnout at meetings is usually pretty strong, and we've had impressive participation lately at our picnic and our winter banquet. The atmosphere is informal and welcoming. We have members with interest in many different types of antique motorcycles. Members are glad to help others with guidance on their projects. Stop by as a guest at one of our meetings and see for yourself why the Seaboard members keep coming back for another steaming cup of camaraderie. |
