| The Allegheny Mountain Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) was founded on February 2, 1951 by William E. Swigart, Jr. It is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to its encourage members to acquire, restore, preserve, and exhibit antique automobiles.The Allegheny Mountain Region is located in Central Pennsylvania and is currently under the leadership of President Nick Sabatino. The Region has approximately 200 members residing throughout Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and New York.The Region participates in shows, parades, tours, and exhibitions, as well as social affairs to meet fellow enthusiasts and exchange information. A few of the Region?s events include the: Swigart Meet Touring DelGrosso?s Park Show Struble Chicken B-B-Q Christmas PartyThe Region has taken weekend tour(s) to various locations -- in 1996 to Lancaster, Pennsylvania; in 1997 to Wellsboro, Pennsylvania; in 1998 to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania; in 1999 along Route 6 and to Fallingwater/Bedford/Johnstown, Pennsylvania; in 2000 to Eagles Mere, Pennsylvania; and in 2001 along Skyline Drive, Virginia, 2004 New Berlin, PA, 2005 AACA Glidden Tour Host, 2007 Bilgers Rocks.Membership in the Allegheny Mountain Region is open to anyone who enjoys antique automobiles. Dues are $12 for single or joint membership. A membership entitles you to receive the Region?s news publication Vapor Locks, which is published bi-monthly. Vapor Locks keeps members up-to-date on all Region events and includes interesting stories of Yester-Year and an automotive classified section for antique cars and parts. |
