Please try the troubleshooting tips below for resolving problems. Warning - If your are not familiar with your computer system and/or its operation, or you do not own the computer you're working with, get assistance before proceeding any further.

Identifying Windows Internet Explorer 7.0.5730.11

  • Using the mouse, click on the help menu of your version of Internet Explorer, scroll down to "About Internet Explorer" and click.

  • You can now see the version above supports the EV-SSL because it is Internet Explorer 7.0. If your screen does not show this version and it is not 7.0, then stop! You more than likely have something less and this does not support extended validation recognition.

Green

The certificate uses extended validation. This means that communication between your browser and website is encrypted and that the certification authority has confirmed the website is owned or operated by a business that is legally organized under the jurisdiction shown in the certificate and on the Security Status bar. The certification authority makes no assertion about the business practices of the website.

  • if your browser is Internet Explorer 7.0 and you do not see the green address bar, then your Root Certificates are out of date and need updating. The following steps will help you update your Internet Explorer 7.0, enabling you to identify authentic web sites.

  • First please close all non-essential applications; this is to ensure your update goes smoothly.

  • Using your mouse, select TOOLS, scroll down to Windows Update and select Windows Update as shown above left in the picture.

  • Windows Update service will now ask you to do one of the following shown in the picture above on the top right.  Select "Custom" and wait for Windows Update to complete the system scan.

  • After the system scan is completed it is likely you will be told there are no critical updates available. Stop and look to the left. Select "Software, Optional." You will see Root Certificate Update; select this option.

  • Next, select "Review and install updates" and wait.  After this is completed you may or may not be asked to restart your system. After the update is completed, there will be one more option required to be enabled.

  • Select Tools in the browser menu. Scroll down using the mouse and select the "Phishing Filter," and then select "Turn On Automatic Website Checking." The one in the picture below is already enabled. Yours should look like this if you have followed this procedure correctly. You will now see the green bar appear.
